ccdb-x — Cray Comparative Debugger
SYNOPSIS
ccdb-x [-h host] [-u user] [config.ccdb]
IMPLEMENTATION
Cray Linux Environment (CLE)
DESCRIPTION
ccdb-x is deprecated and only supported for use with gdb4hpc versions older than 4.16.0.
ccdb-x is the X application of the Cray Comparative Debugger (CCDB). CCDB-X features a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that extends the comparative debugging capabilities of gdb4hpc, enabling users to easily compare data strucftures between two executing applications. If the values of the selected data structures diverge, an error may exist and the user is notified. This capability is useful for locating errors that are introduced when applications are modified through code, compiler, or library changes, or when running an application on a different scale produces incorrect results.
The ccdb-x command supports the following options:
-h host
Specifies the host on which ccdb-x is to be run.
-u user
Specifies the name of the user for login.
config.ccdb
Specifies a config file containing application information for the launch command as well as user-defined assertion scripts, PE sets, decompositions, and type templates saved from a previous CCDB session.
To begin using CCDB, load the cray-ccdb module and then enter the ccdb-x command:
% module load cray-ccdb
% ccdb-x
This will open CCDB-X’s main control and display window. Within the display window, the application specification panels are open for the user to provide application details and resource requirements. If, however, a configuration file was specified when invoking ccdb, the application specification panels are auto-filled with that information.
Note: Users running CCDB-X remotely on a workstation may be prompted for a password when attempting to access a Cray system.
Integrated Help System
CCDB-X includes an integrated help system. All additional information about using CCDB-X is presented in the help system, which is accessible whenever CCDB-X is running by either clicking the ? button in the current window or selecting Help from the menu bar of the monitor window.
NOTES
CCDB-X does not automatically process direct comparisons of pointers and will display a warning message.
CCDB-X is a GUI tool that requires that your workstation support the X Window System. Depending on your system configuration, you may need to use the ssh -X option to enable X Window System support in your shell session. Depending on your workstation configuration, you may also need to enable X Window System hosting on your workstation or load an X Window client such as Xming.
